Pediatric GCRC Changes Its Name, Expands Its Mission

from Practice Update, Summer 2006

The Pediatric General Clinical Research Center at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Science Center and The Children’s Hospital has changed its name.  The Pediatric GCRC is now the Pediatric Clinical Translational Research Center (PCTRC).

Since 1963, the Pediatric GCRC has provided resources, training and infrastructure to conduct exceptional patient-oriented clinical research at The Children’s Hospital, the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center, Denver Health and the University of Colorado Hospital. The PCTRC will continue providing the same outstanding services on which investigators and research subjects rely. The name change signals an expanded commitment to “translate” research from the laboratory to cutting-edge child health therapies and treatments.

Relocation to the new state-of-the-art Children’s Hospital facilities on the Fitzsimons campus in 2007 will enhance research opportunities. Additionally, the PCTRC will actively participate in the application process for the National Institutes of Health’s new Institutional Clinical and Translational Science Award to help secure additional funding and recognition for pediatric research programs at Children’s, UCDHSC, Denver Health and University of Colorado Hospital.
