Healthy Snacks Are a Snap

Get your kids into the kitchen to help make these tasty treats, and you’ll also make memories for years to come.

Homemade Pizza “Cookies”

  • Whole-wheat frozen bread dough
  • Ready-made pizza sauce
  • Turkey pepperoni, lean ham, pineapple, green pepper, mushrooms and onions, chopped
  • Mozzarella cheese (part-skim, shredded)

Thaw and let bread rise once, then roll out thin, cut with a cookie cutter and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Add toppings.

Bake at 450 degrees for eight to 10 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbling.

“Lite” Banana Split

  • ½ medium banana, peeled
  • 1 scoop low-fat cottage cheese or vanilla yogurt
  • ¼ cup chopped fruit (fresh or frozen peaches or berries)
  • 2 tablespoons crunchy cereal (low-fat granola, Grape-Nuts™, etc.)
