Clinical Social Work Team at The Children's Hospital

At The Children’s Hospital, clinical social workers are an important part of your child’s care team. Our clinical social workers are professionals with the knowledge and understanding to provide psychosocial services to children and families experiencing the difficulties associated with illness, hospitalization and outpatient care. Social workers provide:

  • Counseling to individuals and families related to the patient's diagnosis and medical condition
  • Crisis intervention
  • Support to patients and families around adjustment to illness, hospitalization and outpatient care
  • Grief/loss counseling
  • Child advocacy and protection
  • Counseling and/or referral for financial problems related to the medical situation
  • Assistance with accessing hospital and community resources
  • Case coordination, consultation and discharge planning

Social workers also play an important role when dealing with child abuse. Learn more about child abuse services provided by The Children’s Hospital.
